College Literature: Lit 120 Multicultural Literature and Human Diversity
This class will focus on perspective of diverse people through various genres of literature.
We will also focus on discrimination and stereotypes as we have learned them in our lives. Together we will become educated about the people in this world and learn their stories, first hand. We will read literature from Chicano authors and poets, Indigenous Peoples, the People of many colors and religions, and people from the LGBTQ+ community.
This class is run through SMSU, and the assignments will be collected through D2L interface (online). All the students in this class will be taking it for college credit.
The students that are in 11th grade will receive HS credit as well as college credit.
In addition to reading great literature, we will lend our voices to the situations and events that we read about. We will think critically about the topics that we read, and we will look at the topics through various lenses.
Above all, we will learn about the issues the authors face from each group, and we will join the discourse of the society in learning what can be done to change outcomes.
We will fight for justice.
"In matters of truth and justice, there is no difference between large and small problems, for issues concerning the treatment of people are all the same." Albert Einstein
